Welcome to Design track mind by Melissa Gulley

I am an interior designer from Newton, MA having a lot of fun writing this blog between client appointments, kid stuff, kid school stuff, dog stuff, husband stuff, husband's company stuff (http://www.fueldog.com/), life stuff, old house stuff, family stuff, extended family stuff and the rest of the detail stuff. I am not a writer (clearly) so please ignore the typo's, spelling mistakes and desperate need for proofreading.

The Big Reveal!

So here it is, my daughter Tyber is 10 years old – wow, the big double digit!  I think you all may remember (from Monday) the picture of Tyber’s old room.  Here it is below:

So girlie!!!  Well my girlie girl got a new room redo for her 10th birthday.  She asked for tonal cream and white with accents of silver.  She wanted traditional mixed with contemporary and a little ethnic for good measure.  This is what she got today:

It’s so much better then our room my husband Kevin is threatening to move in - maybe this will be the new punishment to pull out when bad behavior is looming.

  1. Love the transformation, although I liked the original too! But I agree... a mature room for a girl who's maturing. Thanks for posting & well done!

  7. This is a beautiful example of modern tween girls sophisticated taste and such a departure from my memories as a kid with girl's self decorated rooms decked out in ripped pages from Tiger Beat. Any 10-year old girl would love this room and I would bet even my 40-ish lady friends would as well. Thank you for sharing with us your perspective and interpretation of design for today's kids.
